World is moving towards sustainable development and reforming societies and economies of every nation. India as a nation has attained massive growth and development during 75
years of independence. One area which gives the country a major setback is POPULATION
EXPLOSION. Government had tried to create awareness every now and then, but still not much fruitful. There have been several reasons to this like: male child preference, more marriages, early marriage, ignorance on part of contraceptives in rural areas, etc. Females still have their own prejudices about use of oral contraceptive pills for birth control. Few of the myths which have no relation to reality about contraceptive pills are:
- RESULTS IN WEIGHT GAIN: In beginning of use of oral contraceptive pills; one may
gain a bit of weight. But it is due to water retention and not excessive fat. But with
time body gets adjusted. Further it also helps in weight loss for females suffering
from PCOS problem. - CAN CAUSE ACNES & UNWANTED GROWTH OF HAIR: Latest contraceptive pills have
different variants of progesterone, which helps in reducing acne and abnormal growth of
hair, especially for females suffering from PCOS. - NEGATIVE IMPACT ON FERTILITY: Contraceptive pills are designed in such a way to
prevent ovulation and pregnancies. They have nothing to cause infertility for
females. - NOT REQUIRED AT A HIGHER AGE: People think they cannot get pregnant with
increasing age and thus do not require contraceptive pills. A female have complete
chances of getting pregnant with increasing age; until she has menopause. - CAN CAUSE NATURAL ABORTION: Birth control pills helps in prevention of ovulation
and does not causes natural abortion. When it prevents fertilization; then how does
the question of pregnancy arises. - CAUSES BLOOD CLOTS & STROKES: Risk like blood clot and strokes are for females
with special circumstances like people with age more than 40 and regular smokers; females with heart diseases, etc. In that case they can always consult their gynecologist.
Any and every time you have a doubt with your contraceptive pills; just call or visit your
