Spreading awareness is winning half the battle in any regard. Spreading awareness about various
medical problems and their corresponding symptoms and prescription is the need of the hour. Most
of us would haven’t heard much about the term UTERINE FIBROIDS before. July is the month
selected for spreading awareness about this feminine problem.
These are non-cancerous tumors; which develop along the walls of uterus or in uterus itself or at
outer surface of the organ. 40%-80% women have this growth; but being asymptomatic in many
cases; it does not possess any problem.
CAUSES FOR UTERINE FIBROIDS
There is no single cause for growth of these fibroids. Doctors and researchers highlight the understated causes leading to formation of uterine fibroids.
- HORMONES: Two type of hormones, namely, Estrogen and progesterone helps in
development of lining for uterus during mensuration cycle for further preparation of
body for pregnancy. They also result in formation of uterine fibroids. During and after
menopause, as the secretion of these hormones decreases; so as the fibroids. - FAMILY HISTORY: If your mother or sister were victim of uterine fibroids, they are much
increased chances of you getting it too. - OVERWEIGHT: Obesity or increased body weight is the root cause of maximum number of
diseases. It is also one of the cause of this tumor. - LATE MENOPAUSE: late menopause means more secretion of hormones related to
mensuration and more risk of developing fibroids. - VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY: Deficiency of Vitamin D is also associated with formation of fibroids
in female’s body. - EATING HABITS: Excessive eating of red meat in your diet and ignoring green leafy
vegetables and dairy products is another cause leading to uterine fibroids.
SYMPTOMS OF UTERINE FIBROIDS
Let’s talk about few of its symptoms which females encounter while formation of fibroids in their
uterus.
- Heavy flow of bleeding during mensuration and lasting even for more than a week. At times
the bleeding can take more than once in 28 days cycle. - Lowe abdomen gets enlarged in size.
- High frequency of urination.
- Painful sexual activities.
- Constipated stomach.
- Pain in legs or lower back.
- Females suffering from this problems can face difficulties during pregnancy.
