Breast feeding is the most important phase of child and mother bonding as well as infant’s growth and development. The more you feed your infant with breast milk; the more it is
produced. But there are case where mothers are not able to provide sufficient amount of
milk and hence have to depend on other alternatives. But mom’s to be not lose their hope and consult their lactation specialist for the same.
Apart from specialist consultation, here are few NANIs and DADIs proved food items which
can help in increasing your milk production. Most of them are have medical relevance.
- FENUGREEK (Methi dana): Fenugreek seeds are known best for raising milk
production. Lactation mom to soak 1 tablespoon of seeds in water overnight. Boil
them for 5-6 minutes and drink it. We can also add them while making vegetables
and pulses for lactating female. - DRUMSTICKS: Drumsticks are known in Indian households by south Indian dish SAMBHAR. Apart from adding taste and flavor to dishes, it works wonder for
lactating moms. It helps in opening up the jammed veins of the breast, thus
stimulating the mammary glands and enhancing the milk supply. The best way to
consume is add them to your soups and pulses. - BROWN RICE: We Indians have sweet corner for white rice. In contrast to this, its
counterpart brown rice is healthier and rich in fiber. It helps in regulating your blood
sugar levels and thus maintain a good health. It helps in increasing milk production
for lactation moms. - BARLEY (Jau): Barley being a whole grain; which is full of minerals and vitamins. It
gives a lot of energy to lactating mother apart from increasing milk production.
People in rural India consume barley are keep fit. One can eat barley chapatti or
have soup made out of it. - OATMEAL: Oatmeal is GEN Z healthy and easy going breakfast. It is high in fiber
content & nutrition. Lactating mother can have healthy breakfast made of oats (Idli,
chilla or porridge). It keeps you fill for few hours and boost up your milk supply. - BOTTLEGAURD: A highly nutritious and fibrous Indian vegetable. It is very easily
digestible, hence suitable for lactating mother. As it is rich in water content, keeps
mom hydrated. - SEASAME SEEDS: Sesame seeds are an age old recipe for lactating mom in our
country. These seeds are very rich in calcium, helps enhancing both mother and child health. Eat them in form of Ladoos made of seeds and jiggery along with dry fruits
can prove to be beneficial.
Apart from adding these items to enhance milk production, newly moms nee to be
happy and healthy to look after their infanmts.
