Though the number of deaths is reducing to the spread of awareness about this form of cancer.
The symptoms of this cancer are usually difficult to diagnose at an early stage. But prevention is always better than cure. Let’s find out some preventive measures to fight against ovarian cancer.
- DIET & EXERCISE: Living a well-organized life with 30 minutes of exercise; can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer by 20 %. Foods rich in Vitamin A (carrot, leafy vegetables, etc.) and Vitamin D are to be incorporated into your balanced food plate. Further try having more nuts, eggs, and beans. Balanced diet and exercise make your body healthier & happier.
- RESTRICT USE OF CARCINOGENS: Carcinogens are nothing but items; whose use increases the risk of cancer. One should avoid the use of talcum powder; which is readily found in kids’ powder, makeup items, and our vaginal fresheners. Some females to look beautiful & glamorous often use these products. Avoid using them.
- ORAL CONTRACEPTIVE PILLS: Women who are on oral contraceptive pills reduce the risk of getting this cancer by 50%. The longer the duration of these pills, the less is the risk factor. But do consult your doctor before taking these pills.
- PREGNANCY: A woman who has at least one pregnancy reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. The risk is reduced if you have early pregnancy i.e. before 30 years of age. Breastfeeding your infant further reduces your risk. Motherhood has many benefits apart from this one.
- RESTRICTED TOBACCO & ALCOHOL INTAKE: Females should restrict to use of tobacco not only to avoid ovarian but other forms of cancer too. Further females to restrict their alcoholic drinks to 3-4 drinks a week.
