More than 1.5 years of the pandemic, the life of human beings witnessed a massive change. Kids are no exception to this. Their complete routine has gone a 360-degree journey and stands topsy turvy. Their school-going disciplined life is in the cage of gadgets. Their lifestyle has pushed them towards obesity, specks for their eyesight, body ache due to improper posture, and lack of concentration.
Apart from sleep time, their maximum time goes with the gadgets. After attending 5-6 hours of online classes, they take the extra pressure of attending tuitions and completing assignments. The rest of the time they are busy with bloggers, Gamers, chat windows, etc. The physical activity has gone for rest. Even when the situation goes under control, people are afraid of sending their kids to parks and stadiums for playtime. The major reason being children were major carriers in India during the second wave of Covid-19.
Another sphere of discussion is unhealthy/ junk food. It has become the talk of every household. Kids always are ready to indulge in processed food. Ordering them from online sites has become a matter of a single click. This leads to adding layers of junk food to your body and then moving towards obesity.
Online life and gadgets had introduced these kids to a world of slang and obscene language. This is spoiling their overall personality. The same language they are repeating again and again. It is high time, we as parents should draw certain lines for our kids. We should try to follow these tips to save our kids further from this pandemic.
- Define a timetable for your kids. Apart from study classes, restrict gadget use. Teachers should also give more brainstorming assignments, which involve less screen time.
- Involve them in household chores. The kitchen is restricted to girls attitude does not work in the 21st Century. They can have turned in drying clothes, ironing clothes, dusting, placing the table, etc.
- Make duties for kids for watering the plants. Ask them to spend time with nature. Breathing in fresh oxygen every day for at least 30 minutes is at best.
- Play board games with them to keep them occupied. We can have a fun time on the weekend with dumbchalardes, Chinese whispers, etc.
- Junk food to be allowed once a week for a meal. Work with and plan healthy options for them at home. Involve them in cutting, chopping, plating, etc. Keep them away from the flame.
- Ask them to spend time with grandparents as it will help them both.
- Ask them to get involved in some eye relaxing exercises. After 40 minutes of online class or activity relax your eyes for 40 minutes.
These few tips can help our kids to lead a normal life in this pandemic situation.
