During this 1.5 year of pandemic, the complete world has gone through the roughest phase of the last few decades. A spread starting from china was felt throughout the globe in a matter of days. It was spreading like fire in the dry forests during the hottest of summers. The pandemic had witnessed an array of medical, economic, and emotional issues experienced by almost every nation.
Apart from medical issues, emotional imbalance/ stress is a major contribution to this pandemic. There have been several traumatic stress issues associated with this disease. There is not a single group of people who was a sufferer. They range from front-line warriors, elderly people, children, working-class, leaders, people belonging to lower-income groups, etc. The only gainer being nature. Nature was at its best during these months. It was the only pleasure of people from their balconies or terraces.
Loss of job, no financial support, isolation, overburdened, no domestic support, missing on nears and dears, difficulty in accumulating commodities, anxiety about the health of nears and dears, etc. were few issues capturing everyone mind. Fear of a single sneeze was even alarming. Whether we suffered from disease or not, we all have this anxiety and stress in our minds. Psychiatrists across the globe had helped people in coping up with their fears, but still, the problem is prevailing. We are afraid of being part and parcel of this pandemic every then and now. WHO has issued guidelines to all the countries to focus more on mental health services along with other health issues?
We all have been part and parcel of these mental imbalances during pandemics. Whether it was our near one suffering from COVID, our kid’s educational problem, a loss of job in the family. The understated are few stress busters to help us out in difficult times:
- Try to maintain an easy and simple routine similar to one before the pandemic. Every time is not the same. We can together struggle with this pandemic. Try out these punch lines in your mind.
- Try out some meditation or yoga during the morning. Try to do simple exercises to keep your physical and mental health in place.
- Have eight hours of sleep to get balanced mental and physical health.
- Involve yourself in reading a book, thousands of them are available online.
- Watch a comedy or light movie, involve yourself in some board game, etc.
- Be part of nature at its best. If you have some plants or a garden, be a gardener.
- Do something for underprivileged people around you. Help them with grains, milk, and few other things. It will give you immense pleasure.
- Maintain social distancing norms.
- Be connected with your near and dears online.
- Do not indulge in alcohol or anti-depression pills. This is a temporary phase, we will all be out of this phase very soon.
