The northern part of the country is under the surveillance of heat waves. These days the summer season approaches much earlier than expected in our country. We, humans, are responsible for it due to global warming and pollution. But the ill had already been created, now it’s time to bear the repercussions. The most common problem for which people become victims is dehydration during this season. Apart from water loss, there is also a loss of electrolytes and minerals from our bodies. As the mercury is rising day by day, try to spend less time in the scorching heat. Some of the common symptoms of this are dry mouth and cracked lips, frequent headaches, fatigue, the color of urine becoming dark, etc. Here are some tips so that you do not fall prey to dehydration this summer.
- ENHANCE YOUR LIQUID DIET: Hydration is the key to avoiding dehydration. Increase your liquid intake during summer in form of water, buttermilk, coconut water, lemon, mint water, etc. Make sure not to try to keep yourself hydrated with packaged juices and soft drinks. They make you feel cool at that point in time, but do not add well to your body. They satisfy the soul and not the body.
- PROPER CLOTHING: The ideal clothes to be worn during this season are light-colored, loose-fitted, and cotton and rayon. They help in keeping you cool. The dark-colored clothes absorb more heat, making you uneasy. If you wear tight-fitted clothes during this season, they will absorb more heat instead of evaporating from body pores.
- EAT WATER IN ADDITION TO DRINKING: Some fruits and vegetables are rich in water like melons, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, etc. They help you in enhancing your water intake in addition to providing the necessary nutrients and minerals.
- REDUCE YOUR WORKOUT LEVELS: The level of workout is reduced during peak summers as it can lead to dehydration due to over-sweating. Go for walks in the early mornings or late evenings. Do not forget to carry your water bottle.
- AVOID DIRECT SUN CONTACT: Avoid directly being in the sun. If avoiding is not possible due wear your sunglasses, carry an umbrella, and apply sunscreen.
- LIMIT BEVERAGES AND ALCOHOL: More alcohol and beverages make you dehydrated during summer. Reduce your cup of daily tea in offices and workplaces. Instead have lemon or coconut water.
- DO NOT MISS YOUR CARBS: Try not to miss your carbohydrates during summer. Do not miss your whole-grain pasta or oats. They are cooked while soaking in water. They absorb more water and keep you hydrated.
Try out these few tips during summer and remain hydrated.
